Lotion w/MSM & Sodium Lactate using Multibase EL-1
-contributed by: J. Collymore of Sweetbottom Boutique Handmade Soaps

1. Deionized Water 63%
2. Multibase EL1 20.00%
3. MSM (methylsulfonylmethane 12.00%
4. Sodium Lactate (NaL) 5.00%
5. Fragrance q.s. (optional)

General Water Info:
If you can't find deionized water, use distilled or filtered. Do not use tap or well water. Boil your distilled or filtered water when making any mixture to ensure it's safety. If your formula doesn't require high temps, boil and let cool before use. Water will evaporate while heating so make sure you prepare enough to cover your required weight AFTER evaporation

Sodium Lactate Info:
If using a powdered form of sodium lactate, pre-mix and use 4 oz. of solution in this recipe. (The author notes she mixes 16 oz. powdered NaL to 10.7 oz. deionized water)

Procedure
Prepare item 1 (boiling/hot water) and add item 3. Stir will a spoon until dissolved. In a separate bowl (main batching vessel), combine items 4 and 2. Mix well with a stick blender. Add water/MSM solution to mixture. Mix until smooth. It's ok to use a stick blender although you may get some bubbles. As the mixture cools the bubbles should go away. After cooling, fill bottles and put on the caps. (zipper freezer bags work well-snip off the corner for easy pouring into bottles). Back To Top
